Shelby Collection Winners Announced.
GARDENA, Calif. – July 19, 2010 –The Carroll Shelby Foundation announced the winners of its 2010 Win-A-Shelby Raffle during the inaugural Barrett-Jackson Orange County Auction on Sunday, June 27. For the first time, the raffle offered prizes to first, second and third place winners as well as the opportunity to choose between three themed packages designed to dress up any muscle car, garage or home.
The first place winner was Bill Dunnett of Dartmouth, Canada, who chose the Performance Package. Richie Mashburn of Leicester, North Carolina, took home the second place prize, the Leisure Package. And third-place winner, Mike Diechmann, received the Garage Package. With all three packages totaling a value of more than $56,000, each prize was designed to provide an entertaining experience for recipients.
"The 2010 Win-A-Shelby Raffle was a huge success," said Jenni Shreeves, executive director of the Carroll Shelby Foundation. "100 percent of the proceeds generated from the raffle ticket sales benefitted the Foundation's philanthropic endeavors such as, providing financial assistance to children battling life-threatening illnesses. We're thankful to all those who supported our charity by purchasing tickets."
To take part in the raffle, participants had to be over the age of 16, but did not have to be present to claim the prize. Each ticket was sold for $10 in support of the Carroll Shelby Foundation. The first winner drawn had the option of choosing one of the three prizes, the second winner drawn had the option of the remaining two packages and the third winner received the remaining prize.
"Each package was designed to provide the ultimate Carroll Shelby experience," stated Shreeves. "We wanted the choice to be difficult for the winners when deciding between the three packages because each of them provided something so different. Our goal was for all three winners to walk away pleased."
Headlined by a Windsor Shelby 427 engine, the Performance Package was perfect for any muscle car enthusiast wanting a little more power under his hood. Dunnett received a signed limited-edition photo print of Carroll at the wheel of the number 98 Ferrari, an exact replica of Carroll's black Stetson hat, a pair of Classic Cobra bar stools and numerous Shelby home dècor items.
Mashburn received the ultimate golf accessory with a Shelby GT500 golf cart swathed in flame red and white stripes. The Leisure Package also included an Ogio golf bag, Shelby signature luggage and a collection of autographed Shelby books. One-of-a-kind home dècor items were part of the package, which included a gas pump-style display case loaded with 1:18-scale model Shelby cars and a bar-style rotating lamp.
To begin the transformation of his garage, Diechmann received a Shelby Cobra-stylized tool cabinet system. He also took home a Shelby stripe and logo Swisstrax garage flooring system, a Shelby ice chest, bar-style rotating light and an authentic Shelby Cobra couch made to look just like the rear end of the iconic Cobra.
"Not only did we raise thousands of dollars for our charity, we gave three deserving winners a rare opportunity to own some amazing Shelby memorabilia," added Shreeves. "Our focus now is to create an even greater experience for enthusiasts with our next Win-A-Shelby Raffle."
